Aimee Tomczak Sex: Female; MFT # MFC38736 (Since 2002) 1480 Church St., San Francisco 94131 (415) 820-1458 Fee scale: $110 - inquire about sliding scale DESCRIPTION OF CLINICAL PRACTICE I bring warmth, presence and heart to my work with individual adults. My intention to create a safe, compassionate space to allow you to experience what is true. Through awareness of body and mind states, we will work together to recognize and transform limiting beliefs and patterns that keep you from a more authentic experience of life. As we reconnect with your experience of Being, we will lay the groundwork for creating resources to allow you to experience an embodied life with more joy, aliveness and meaning. Depending on your needs and interests, I may integrate mindfulness, somatic (body) awareness practices and guided imagery into the therapy process. I also use Energy Psychology techniques and EMDR to facilitate healing and strengthen resiliency. People in my practice face a wide range of issues including: depression, anxiety, stress, spiritual issues, women's issues, life transitions and trauma. My specialties include grief and loss, life transitions and chronic and life threatening illness. My work is influenced by Eastern perspectives, including my own experience as a yoga therapist; as well as my training in Authentic Movement and meditative dance/movement forms. VIPASSANA/MEDITATION BACKGROUND I have been practicing Vipassana meditation for over 15 years, and have participated in numerous residential retreats over the last nine years. Teachers I have studied with include: Phillip Moffitt, Julie Wester, Deborah Chamberlin-Taylor, Christina Feldman, and Anna Douglas. I have also trained through the Metta Institute with Frank Ostaseski and with Sally Kempton. The teachings of Pema Chodron, Eckhart Tolle, Tara Brach, John Kabat-Zinn and Sharon Salzberg all influence my work. I am certified in Integrative Yoga therapy and enjoy a regular yoga and meditative movement practice.
