DESCRIPTION OF CLINICAL PRACTICE
I work with individuals, couples and small groups, weaving together a psychodynamic approach with mindfulness practice, cognitive and somatic awareness, and accessing of inner strengths and resources. I have worked extensively with relationship issues, trauma and abuse, career issues, creativity, and challenges related to gender, class, ethnicity and sexual orientation.

I use other modalities as needed, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), relaxation practice, and Interactive Guided Imagery which fosters access to your own inner guidance and healing capacities.

VIPASSANA/MEDITATION BACKGROUND
I have been a vipassana practitioner for the past 10 years and have offered extensive service within the San Francisco Insight Meditation Community, including more than 4 years of teaching chi gung (mindful movement practice) before the Sunday night sits.

I have more than 30 years experience with meditative, mind/body practices, including study and teaching of Shaolin Ssu, a Buddhist martial arts practice, Kwan Ping Tai Chi, and various western mediation and relaxation practices.

RELEVANT CLINICAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
I have an MA in Social Clinical Psychology. I have been certified in biofeedback, EMDR and Interactive Guided Imagery, and am trained as a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher. I spent more than 10 years working with a union-based counseling program at the Institute for Labor and Mental Health, and I've been in private practice since 2001. I have also done 20 years of community service to foster the creative arts, especially in underprivileged communities.
