DESCRIPTION OF CLINICAL PRACTICE
I bring forty years of experience to my work as a therapist with individuals, couples, families and groups. Originally trained as an art therapist and body therapist, I appreciate the depth and power of non-verbal experience and creative expression as well as the need to integrate these experiences with language. My work springs from a deep respect for the wisdom of the body and the creative intelligence that guides each of us toward health and wholeness. Key to the process is the therapy relationship which provides a safe place for the client to develop trust and explore the ways that the past colors and shapes the present. I am experienced at integrating spiritual practice, twelve-step recovery work and psychotherapy and find that this interweave can strengthen and facilitate the healing process. I am certified in Somatic Experiencing (SEP) and EMDR, both valuable modalities for working with PTSD, developmental trauma, and a range of other issues. I currently offer groups for midlife women in transition and for women exploring the issues of aging, using art, writing, meditation, and body awareness as well as group sharing in a supportive environment.
