DESCRIPTION OF CLINICAL PRACTICE
Therapy can be a safe, supportive place to help you find more satisfaction and happiness. I help people learn how to change their behavior, work through difficult emotions, and heal the beliefs and obstacles that inhibit living a more fulfilling life. As a result, clients improve their relationship with others and, most importantly, deepen their connection to themselves.
I often employ a mindfulness approach to therapy where we may focus attention on your body's experience as well as our mind, emotions, and memories. Our goal is to develop awareness and acceptance of your experience, leading you to a deeper connection with your true self.
In therapy I help people with many issues, including, but not limited to: relationship issues, self esteem, depression, anxiety, loss, grief, divorce, childhood abuse, trauma, pregnancy issues and communication style. I use Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing to resolve trauma stored in the body. This method uses mindfulness to restore the regulation of the nervous system. I also use the Hakomi Method, a mindfulness based therapy, to help client heal old wounds and replace dysfunctional core beliefs with life affirming ones.
I listen with care and empathy, and have worked successfully with individuals, couples and children, with men and women, and people of diverse backgrounds. My goal is to create a compassionate space that will welcome your healing and your return to wholeness.
I have a generous sliding scale.
VIPASSANA MEDITATION BACKGROUD
I have practiced Vipassana Meditation for 20 years and have extensive retreat experience of varying lengths from short retreats up to four months. I also have a daily practice. I have practiced in the US and in Thailand. In the United States I have practiced at Spirit Rock, IMS, and the Forest Refuge.

Vipassana meditation, including the Metta and Karuna practices, were key aspects of my own healing process.

RELEVANT CLINICAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
I am certified as a Somatic Experience Practitioner (Peter Levine's approach to treating trauma), a student of Hakomi therapy (a somatic mindfulness based therapy), the Diamond Approach or Ridhwan School, and Non-Violent Communication.
