My experience includes working with depression, various anxiety reactions, addictions/dependencies, existential crises, and with persons committed to life-changing psychotherapy in conjunction with spiritual practice. VIPASSANA/MEDITATION BACKGROUND Beginning in 1975, I have participated in several vipassana retreats, including a three-month retreat at Barre (1979). I have taught insight meditation privately, at Antioch College, the Nyingma Institute, and John F. Kennedy University. Since 1980, I have also been a Dzogchen and tonglen practitioner RELEVANT CLINICAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Advanced training in Existential Psychotherapy with Jim Bugental, PhD, "Focusing" with Gene Gendlin, PhD, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and non-dual therapy with Peter Fenner, Ph.D. I have been practicing therapy since 1981 and currently am an Adjunct Professor at JFK University and California Institute of Integral Studies, where I teach Existential Psychotherapy and Mindfulness-Based Psychology. Recent publications include "Listening from the Heart of Silence: Nondual Wisdom and Psychotherapy, Vol 2" (edited with John Prendergast) and articles on "Therapeutic Courage", "The Play of Unconditioned Presence in Existential-Integrative Psychotherapy", and " Natural Resilience". |
