Nancy Rothschild Sex: Female; MFT # MFC20640 (Since 1985) 1419 Allston Way, Berkeley 94702 (510) 843-6903 nanoroth@gmail.net www.nancysrothschild.com Fee scale: $125, sliding DESCRIPTION OF CLINICAL PRACTICE My 25 years in private practice has been a reflection of my deepening interest in the marriage of psychotherapy and mindfulness meditation. My training was primarily in psychodynamic theory, but over the years I have been integrating cognitive behavioral perspectives into my practice when needed. My attention and presence in the therapy relationship is informed by my commitment as a meditator and practitioner of mindfulness. In addition, over the past several years I have also begun to introduce certain mindfulness practices into the therapy where appropriate I am interested in helping others discover greater freedom and spontaneity in their lives, and I believe that therapy and mindfulness can work together to make that possible. VIPASSANA/MEDITATION BACKGROUND I came to meditation more than 20 years ago, but it has been in the last 10 years that I have maintained an ever-deepening commitment to daily vipassana practice. Before that, I pursued an active, but more intellectual interest in Buddhism and an on-again off-again formal meditation practice in at least two traditions. I also have a strong yoga practice. I trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction with Jon Kabat-Zinn and others. I have been teaching MBSR to elders and their caregivers for the past 8 years. I am nurtured by at least one ten-day meditation retreat a year. RELEVANT CLINICAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE My clinical training includes : 1, a post graduate internship (2 years) at the Psychotherapy Institute in psychodynamic treatment. 2. years of study and consultation with various supervisors/groups in object relations and self psychology. 3. certification in Chemical Dependency studies and treatment. 4. 10 years as a therapist/supervisor/intern coordinator for a community mental health agency. 5. adjunct faculty at CSUH and JFK University. 6. certification in Aging & Mental Health at UC Berkeley. 7. MBSR teacher for the City of Fremont's Aging and Family Services. |
