Sheridan Adams Sex: Female; MFT #MFC25286 (Since 1991) 2424 Dwight Way # 7, Berkeley 94704 (510) 845-4990 metta108@sbcglobal.net Fee scale: $95, with some reduction for special circumstances DESCRIPTION OF CLINICAL PRACTICE I use a variety of approaches depending on the needs of the client including psychodynamic therapy, Focusing, EMDR, and Coherence Therapy. Coherence Therapy is an effective, non-pathologizing and compassionate therapeutic method that helps clients discover and transform unwanted, painful patterns. The therapy is dynamic and experiential, assisting clients to uncover and let go of (often unconscious) perceptions of themselves and reality which have significantly limited them. Recently I've been exploring sensoriomotor therapy, a body-oriented approach to psychotherapy that is particularly helpful when trauma is involved. Areas I have a good deal of experience with include, adults abused as children, grief issues, depression, anxiety disorders, relationship difficulties, EAP counseling and the psychological impact of health issues. I'm a white woman interested in cross-cultural/race/class issues and have been involved in anti-racism work for over ten years. VIPASSANA/MEDITATION BACKGROUND I have a daily meditation practice at home. I've been attending Vipassana retreats since 1987 and co-facilitated a Kalyana Mitta group for about ten years. I have also been on the board of Buddhist Peace Fellowship and am currently a Co-Chair of the Diversity Council at Spirit Rock. RELEVANT CLINICAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE MS Clinical Counseling, 1986 Private Practice since 1990 Consultation group, Coherence Therapy, since 1996 I've been involved in the Vipassana community for over 20 years. |
