I enjoy helping clients of all ages uncover parts of their creativity and humor that can help them reduce anxiety and increase joy. I have found that mindfulness techniques most effectively relieve my clients of their self-defeating habits even if they never formally meditate. My approach is relational and warm, and I believe that we all have wise instincts toward health even as we get in our own way or struggle to commit to healthy behaviors. I value both the examination of early important relationships and experiences as a part of therapy as well as a focus on the present moment of my clients lives that often allows them significant insight, freedom and possibility. I believe that we can transform our suffering by looking closely at our beiapy and find it to be a process that is deeply honoring of the truth and tenderness of our human experience.

I have been a student of Vipassana meditation since 2010, sitting retreats yearly since then and have participated in two intensive semesters of training with the meditation/mindfulness group taught by Tempel Smith. I have also enjoyed many Sunday evening sits and Dharma talks given by Will Kabat Zinn at Berkeley Ashtanga Yoga. These days I practice mindful parenting at home and savor my quiet moments of meditation between the squawks and giggles.
