DESCRIPTION OF CLINICAL PRACTICE
My goal is to help my clients transform their limiting beliefs, access their strengths, and move toward a greater sense of wholeness and ease. My therapeutic approach is depth-oriented and relational, with particular emphasis on present-moment experience and the wisdom of the body. Clients and colleagues have described my style as authentic, direct, and warm and appreciate my sense of humor.
I work with individuals and couples, and have particular interest and expertise in the following areas: doubt, self-judgment and perfectionism; the LGBTQQ community; overcoming trauma, burnout and stress reduction; relational difficulties; and adult children of alcoholics. I also offer periodic Womanhood Without Motherhood workshops for non-parenting women.
VIPASSANA/MEDITATION BACKGROUND
I have been practicing Vipassana and Metta meditation since 1997. I have done multiple residential retreats since 2001, with my intention being to sit one 10-day retreat per year.
RELEVANT CLINICAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
I received my MSW from Smith College School for Social Work and continued my training through the Advanced Psychodynamic Training program at The Psychotherapy Institute. I have also completed professional training in the Hakomi Method of Body-Centered Psychotherapy. In ongoing consultation with colleagues, I study the integration of mindfulness, attachment theory, neurobiology, and relational psychoanalytic thought. I am a former clinical supervisor at The Pacific Center and current clinical supervisor at East Bay Agency for Children, The Wright Institute, and Women’s Therapy Center, and offer clinical consultation groups for therapists in both my Berkeley and San Francisco offices.
