DESCRIPTION OF CLINICAL PRACTICE
My clients and I work as a team to problem solve their issues. I have more than thirty years experience working with adults, couples, families and groups. Specializing in: life transitions, adults abused as children, depression, anxiety, stress management, trauma, PTSD, relationships, grief, burnout, life threatening illness, career and job coaching. My focus is on the whole person, using integrative psychotherapy, compassion and mindfulness practices, somatic body/mind/energy awareness methods as well as journal writing. I offer EMDR, and am trained in several somatic body therapies. I have a passion for neuropsychology and helping clients utilize the latest in brain research to keep the brain young, vital and transformative.

VIPASSANA/MEDITATION BACKGROUND
Always spiritually inclined, with Judaic roots, I had my first spiritual and transcendental experience of "oneness" (awakening and union with the divine) at 16. I started meditating and became a regular daily practitioner of Siddha Yoga meditation 40 years ago, practicing Hindu spirituality. This helped me with mindfulness, concentration, non-duality and body-focused practices. I've done numerous extensive meditation retreats including two trips to India; one a 3-month silent retreat; as well as several month-long silent retreats in the US. For many years I have focused on Vipassana practices at Spirit Rock with various teachers. I have attended 4 years of Rick Hanson's day-long Spirit Rock workshops and am a member of his San Rafael weekly Meditation Sangha.

RELEVANT CLINICAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
I have an MA in Clinical Psychology from John F. Kennedy University and a BA in Creative Arts, from San Francisco State University. I have completed three major body/mind/energy trainings: Somatic Experiencing, Bodynamics and am Certified in Bioenergetics. Trained in EMDR, I work with trauma issues and PTSD. I offer groups in Writing as Healing and Women's Compassion, Empowerment and Spirituality. A deep believer in compassion in action, I support a home for Tibetan children in India (CED International) and worked for years with Dr. Tom Dooley whose humanitarian philosophy helped inspire the Peace Corps.
