DESCRIPTION OF CLINICAL PRACTICE
I am a Licensed Psychologist with over 30 years clinical experience helping individuals and couples with a variety of concerns such as Marital Problems, Stress, Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, Addiction Recovery, Codependency, Grief and Loss, and more.

My approach is informal and active. I listen intently, care deeply, and use everything I can from my training, experience, and personality to help clients create the change they desire in their lives. I believe in offering suggestions to seek solutions, and I encourage clients to develop needed skills to manage their lives and relationships. I call upon clients to participate in behavioral and lifestyle changes, readings, and other activities between therapy sessions.

I provide a stable, open, and accepting presence within which clients can safely explore themselves and their lives. I introduce clients to meditation practices to help create and strengthen their ability to make contact with thoughts and emotions in ways that increase clarity, insight and tolerance of discomfort, and build psychological stability.

I use a variety of traditional and innovative approaches, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Energy Psychology and EMDR for rapid treatment of a variety of issues, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy that uses traditional Buddhist practices of awareness, attention, and reflection.

VIPASSANA/MEDITATION BACKGROUND
My formal meditation practice began in 1971 with Transcendental Meditation. In 1990 I became a follower of Siddha Yoga, practicing traditional Hindu forms of meditation. In 1997 I attended my first 5 day Vipassana retreat, and have practiced Vipassana regularly since that time. I have had retreats with teachers Shinzen Young, Bhante Gunaratana and others at the Bhavana Society, S.N. Goenka, and several teachers via the Philadelphia meditation Center including Gloria Taraniya and Daniell Matthew from the Barre IMS.

RELEVANT CLINICAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
I've had training in a variety of traditional approaches such as Couples Therapy, Relationship Enhancement, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and newer approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Emotional Freedom Technique, and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.
