DESCRIPTION OF CLINICAL PRACTICE
Neuroscience research has opened a therapy shortcut.
“LENS neurofeedback is a significant medical breakthrough, one of the most important developments in mental health and cognitive enhancement we have seen in decades of practice.” –Grant Rudolph, MFT
The Low Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS) is a passive EEG brainwave mirroring program that restores optimal mental functioning. It’s like pushing the reboot button on your brain. The brain returns to its natural, healthy state, addressing symptoms such as

Anxiety, depression, addictions
ADHD, foggy thinking, memory,
Energy, motivation, sleep
PTSD, concussions, stroke and migraines
Faster, easier thinking.

Neuroscientists have discovered that physical brain structures can change over time. Because of this neuroplasticity, we don’t have to be stuck with old neural pathways which once defended against trauma or stress. LENS clears these habitual thought patterns that are not rooted in present time, the way dry old leaves fall when you shake a tree.
LENS addresses the three traditional thought “defilements” I translate as Hurry, Worry and Blurry. Immediately after one of their first LENS sessions, people report feeling like they just sat a retreat—centered, present, happy, energized, aware of body sensations, concentrated. And the changes are enduring. Sometimes a little traditional talk therapy helps develop tools or maintain focus on the nourishing good that can replace outdated mental habits.

VIPASSANA MEDITATION BACKGROUND
I co-lead Tam Dharma Friends, a weekly meditation group in Mill Valley.  We support each other in practicing kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. I also sit with the Spirit Rock Dedicated Practitioner Program.
My research projects involve the relationship between meditative states and LENS neurofeedback.
