DESCRIPTION OF CLINICAL PRACTICE
Therapy can be a safe, supportive place to help you find more happiness and well being in your life. In therapy I help people with many issues, including, but not limited to: depression, anxiety, trauma, loss, relationship issues, growing up in a dysfunctional family, childhood abuse, self-judgment, doubt, and dealing with change.
I help people learn how to change their behavior, work through difficult emotions, and heal the beliefs and obstacles that inhibit living a more fulfilling life. As a result, clients improve their relationship with others and, most importantly, deepen their connection to themselves.
I often employ a mindfulness approach to therapy where we may focus attention on your body's experience as well as your mind, emotions, and memories. Cutting edge research shows that by using mindfulness we can change neural pathways in the brain, releasing old emotional patterns and creating new healthy ones.
I use Hakomi Body Centered Psychotherapy, a mindfulness-based therapy, to help clients heal wounds and replace dysfunctional core beliefs with life affirming ones. I also use Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing and Pat Ogden's Sensorimotor Therapy to resolve trauma stored in the body. These methods use mindfulness to restore the regulation of the nervous system and the body's ability to relax.
I listen with care and empathy, and have worked successfully with individuals, couples, teens, and children, with men and women, and people of diverse backgrounds. My goal is to create a compassionate space that will welcome your healing.
