DESCRIPTION OF CLINICAL PRACTICE
I work with individual adults and couples on just about every issue, from interpersonal problems to depression, anxiety, addiction, and general dissatisfaction. I also enjoy helping individuals who are in no particular distress but would like to find better ways to flourish. Mindfulness is central to my approach, often but not always in the form of meditation practice. As a meditation teacher, I also specialize in helping people work a meditation practice into their lives.
Regarding psychotherapeutic approaches, I am integrative, with training in CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Time-Limited Dynamic Psychotherapy (TLDP), and, with couples, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
A warm, honest, compassionate therapeutic connection is my base. I love my work, and I care about my clients.
18 year Vipassana sitting practice, and 5- to 14-day yearly residential retreats.
RELEVANT CLINICAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
I completed a doctorate at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California, with internship and postdoctoral training hours completed at the San Mateo Medical Center. I focused on neuropsychological assessment and completed rotations in health psychology, inpatient psychiatry, consult liaison, and crisis intervention. During the psychiatry rotation, I piloted an ACT group for patients suffering from psychosis.
Since 2013, I have taught meditation in the San Francisco County Jail and several times a year I teach an 8-week intensive meditation and yoga class called Essential Mindfulness Taining under the auspices of the Baywell Psychiatry Group.
Since 2018, I am on the faculty at Central Pacific Medical Center as a therapy and psychological assessment supervisor.
